Who are we and what do we do?

The North East Derbyshire Music Centre is a registered charity (No. 1004652) whose purpose is to support and promote ensemble music making opportunities for young people in the area.

We provide opportunities for players of all orchestral and band instruments to make music together in a friendly, purposeful atmosphere.

The Trust was founded in 1991 and is controlled by a Board of seven Trustees currently under the Chairmanship of Ian Fretwell.

The Trust has a long term agreement to operate on the premises of Newbold Community School where we have our own office, music library and instrument store.

The Music Centre is self-financed through pupil fees, grants from the Local Authority (Derbyshire City and County Music Partnership), donations and money raised from fund raising activities.
